Welcome to the GeoCon2026 Conference page. VAMLIS is a professional association designed to provide educational and networking opportunities for professionals who have an interest in mapping sciences in Virginia. The GeoCon is the major event VAMLIS provides and we hope that you are excited to join your peers at this year's conference!

Use the information below to help plan your attendance to GeoCon2026 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center (GRCC).

The Event:

• October 22nd through October 23rd.
• 2-day GIS Conference with presentations from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm daily.
• Snacks, drinks, and lunches provided daily.
• Includes admission to the evening social/vendor reception.

Reservations will be made online by individuals directly using this LINK.

On the landing page, guests can use the drop-down menu to select the appropriate block for their booking. While all guests can access the link, the government per diem rate is reserved exclusively for those with a valid government ID.

Reservations by attendees must be received on or before Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

The Hilton Richmond Downtown (501 E Broad St.) is another close option (not affiliated with the GeoCon), which is caddy-corner to the Convention Center. Attendees should contact the hotel for room availability and rates.

Parking and Locating Conference Registration Check-In:

Note: the conference registration is on the second level. When entering from the ground floor, take the escalators up to the second floor.
Below are parking locations and detailed directions for locating the conference registration.

 

1. GRCC Parking Garage – 351 N Third St., Richmond, VA 23219

The building entrance is located on the 3rd level of the parking garage. Take the garage elevator to teh third floor to enter the building. Upon entering, continue straight ahead along the entrance hallway to reach the Conference Registration at the Grand Ballroom Foyer...you can't miss it.

 

2. Marriott Hotel Parking Deck – 500 E Marshall St., Richmond, VA 23219

The building entrance is located on the 3rd level of the parking garage. Cross the Marriott Hotel Bridge to enter the Convention Center and turn left at the GRCC Map Guide. Walk across the Sky Bridge and turn right to reach the Conference Registration at the Grand Ballroom Foyer.

 

3. GRCC Main Building Entrance – Corner of 5th & Marshall Streets

The building entrance is located at the southeast corner of 5th & Marshall Streets. Take the escalator to the second floor of the building to reach the Conference Registration at the Grand Ballroom Foyer.

 

Virginia Geographic Information Network Advisory Board:

The VGIN Advisory Board provides guidance and oversight to support the mission of the Virginia Geographic Information Network (VGIN), which coordinates statewide geospatial data development, sharing, and policy. The VGIN Advisory Board acts as a bridge between state leadership and Virginia’s GIS community to ensure geospatial investments align with statewide needs.

In cooperation with VAMLIS, the VGIN Advisory Board will hold its fourth-quarter meeting on the first day of the conference in the same meeting space at the GRCC. This meeting will be included on the conference agenda.

All localities benefit from the statewide geospatial products developed through the work of the VGIN Advisory Board. This meeting provides conference attendees with a valuable opportunity to participate firsthand by sharing input, perspectives, and priorities that can help shape future statewide GIS initiatives and investments.
